PHOTOGRAPHY

"Having collected our photo's and canvas from Jake's recent photo shoot, I would like to say how extremely pleased we both are. Julia's patience and professionalism, during the time we were in the studio, were exemplary. Her skills and expertise clearly shone through in the proofs we received. Friends have commented on the quality of Julia's work and how through her photographic skills, she has captured Jake's personality." Jayne & Graham
"Julia is brilliant at making you feel at ease and capturing lovely images. We met her at a show . Her patience and reliability was greatly appreciated. We have sadly lost our gorgeous English Springer but thanks to Julia have some great framed images to help us remember him ; she did amazingly well to really capture his character (and to make him sit still!) We would have no hesitation in recommending her." Tracey & Colin
"Oh my Goodness - Julia is the only one to have captured the gloriousness of Astrid the lurcher. That look in her eyes in unmistakably her." Victoria
My style of work
I have always loved Fine Art Portraiture whether painted or photographic, so I knew I wanted to develop a photographic style that crossed between the two disciplines visually. I like to work with simple backgrounds and studio lighting and thereby concentrate on the subject. So whether that subject is an individual, a family, a dog or a combination of the two, Im looking to create powerful timeless portraits that are more than just a photographic record.
The studio session is a relaxed and a fun experience. I have photographed every breed and cross breed of dog each with their own individual look and personality. To get the best out of the photo shoot ,for even the most restless of dogs, I use treats and undefeated trickery!
Bio
I graduated in Visual Communication as a mature student in 1997, previously working in the Leisure Industry (Night Club management). Working in the Leisure Industry alongside people with broad differences of personality and life experience's has made me appreciate that everyone is so different and all have a story to tell.
I have travelled around the Uk as a professional portrait photographer for over 20 years so have a huge portfolio.
Before having my own studio here at my home address in Devon, I worked as a photographer on Location commissions and at large National shows and events.
Today when I'm not taking portraits I continue to work on pieces of fine Art for exhibitions and print sales.
